Another website, which is giving you the chance to make your own remixes online; Indabamusic.com.

They also have a list of challenges and remix contests.

One of the contests is; make a remix out of samples of an interview of Indaba co-founder Daniel Zaccagnino at “the Colbert Report”-show.

So this time; no samples of music - just “spoken word”……

You have to register at Indabamusic.com. And start the remixing. You are also able to use your own software!
Closing date is the 30st of March - so you need to hurry!

The Remix Contest; Mirror’s Edge

On Acidplanet.com they have a remix contest for the band “Blind Faith and Envy” with “My Life is Ordinary”.
This contest is ending on the 24th of March 2009 and you can win all kinds of Acid Pro software and a Sony MP3 player.
And also; a copy of the CD of Blind Faith and Envey PLUS…. a spot on their digital single for “My Life is Ordinary – remixed”…..

I have been working on this one also; this is my “for now remix”…. Absolutely not ready. Like the voice is not on the correct volume level etc. But suggestions are welcome !!

Very easy to use webpage; the only “but” I could find…..
I hardly know any of the original artists…..

On the other hand; nice way to develop and improve  your remix skills !!

Empire State Human;

Empire State Human (Dublin, Ireland) formed in 1999 and play instrumental based electronic music with a retro-electro edge. Their music is a combination of analogue and digital synthesized sound, mixed with powerful rhythms and overlaid with strong pop vocal melodies.

Empire State Human just finished their sixth studio album “Audio Gothic”, which will be released on CD in North America with Ninthwave Records next month.

Remix Contest; LaptopRockers remix Empire State Human

But okay - this post is not just about Fruityloops - but also about their Remix Contest they announced yesterday;

For our first remix contest we managed to get our hands on the vocals & guitar part of ‘One Day’ a song from DJ David Latour featuring DeMarco.

In all honesty - I totally do NOT like that song….. but hey….. maybe we can spice it up…??  

You can make a remix of the acapella version of “Harder than you think” (from their latest album How You Sell Soul to a Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul).
Public Enemy does not need an introduction - do they…?? (ok; Wikipedia )
I have seen them on Lowlands - great performers !! And they did the amazing tour with…… the Sisters of Mercy in the USA and Canada…… (1990-1991); which was cancelled half way through; lot of cities where afraid of booking a “white” and “black” band together…..- so - contradiction is one of Public Enemy’s thing uh…??

I am already a bit late with this announcement; as this contest is already running for more than a month = on the other side - you still have  a month to enter this contest; closing date is 30st of September 2008.

Prices; of course - gear of M-Audio = but probably more important; the winning remix will also be officially released on Obey Records in the form of a 12” vinyl, featuring an exclusive vinyl label design by Shepard Fairey.

To make their own promotion - they also have a free kind of music editor; Acid Xpress.
