Probably there are some people out there who do not know this band…. but this is what they say about themselves;
We are a rock’n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine.
And intellectual love gods in our spare time.
We make records, sometimes.
We play concerts, sometimes.
We had a hotel close to the venue (Paradiso) and we went early (of course) - after a nice sit at a Irish Pub nearby.
First the pre-show of iLiKETRAiNS; well – not “my cup of tea” !!
But then the show of the Sisters… in a fully packed Paradiso…!
WOW…..
I have seen them about 8 or 9 times now; and this was the first time I could say “the instruments sounded CORRECT”. Most of the times… OR the guitars where too loud OR the guitars sounded to much like… uh…. dunno how to say this – but almost like “fake guitars”….. OR the drums too loud… But not this time; it sounded WOW !!
But again; his (Eldritch) his voice…. uh…. I do not get it….
Why does it always take 3 or 4 songs to get his voice right..???
Every concert – again and again… why..??
But okay – after the first 3 songs… his voice was getting better and better….
Yep – I really loved this show….. I think this was the best one out of the 8 (or 9).
And again; I LOVE THOSE DRUM MACHINES !!!
The Nurse does a great job on Dr.Avalanche.…… and funny to see; he is the only one of the musicians who is building-testing-playing and breaking down (after the show ) his own gear !!
More information on The Nurse would be welcome !!!
Oooh and the playlist of course (found on MyHeartland.co.uk)

I’m a fan since 1986, i have never ever seen such a bad concert as yesterday. (Paradiso, Amsterdam)
The sound was terrible, the light and the smoke was bad.
Next time you can see the sisters as a support act for “i like trains” this is such an incredible band. And the sisters ……. maybe it’s better for andrew to retire.
TAO
Thanx for visiting TAO, it is fun to see how diverse perception can be uh…??
The nice part is; probably you had a great concert with “I like trains” and I had a great concert with “the Sisters”….
It wasn’t a bad concert; the sound was pretty ok, but indeed his voice… It’s getting worse by the year. He mumbles and whispers in the mic and only because I know the songlyrics by heart you can make up the lyrics. Even the howling/screaming in Alice and other songs (except for Flood II which was amazing) was done by Chris (and Ben).
That and the worst version of Floorshow I ever heard was pretty disappointing.
The new T(our)-shirts were very nice though!
Hi Sjeltur,
Yes truly different, i was so dispointed in the Sisters concert, they gave me so much good in the past years. I expected too see the old days sisters, but time goes by for me and for them too. Happy that are still real fans like you!!!
Thanks Sjeltur.
Good luck,
TAO
@ Dr. Avalanche - also thanx for visiting !
Yep - the voice seems to go worse and worse… sadly enough….
But ah - a next time…. I will keep going…..; just to do the same as you = enjoy the music and have the singing in my head…
@Tao - maybe I am already “over the disappointment line”…. and just enjoy it a more at the moment it sounds “less worse than last time….”…?? I have no idea…. but I really had the feeling the guitars - drums - keyboards where sounding really good….. (or less bad….).
I also visited the concert. I thought it was a normal Sisters concert. Let’s be honest… when was AE’s live voice ever good? Have you ever heard any bootlegs from the 80s and 90s? His voice has always been the weakest aspect of the concert. Also, it’s basic physics that with such a low voice, it’s rather more difficult to get a good volume out of it. This is why, for instance, AE sings ‘Marian’ an octave higher in live shows. Anyway, a Sisters concert is obviously not about the quality of the sound, but about the whole experience, to be able to lose (or find) yourself, as AE has put it a long time ago. In my opinion, it was still possible to experience just that.
