Yep - this is probably the most famous band of Holland. Well; the most famous one abroad. Golden Earring

They had a couple of hits in the USA - back in the early seventies they had Radar Love and Twilight Zone; 13 USA tours !!! With even Aerosmith and Kiss doing pre-shows…..
The 5th #1 hit in Holland was this song; When the Lady Smiles….. which got a banned from MTV because of a nudity and showing a nun getting raped….. - this did result in a the fact that this song was a not hit in the USA.

It is even almost weird that I didn’t mention this one before in the Monday Little Dutch Treat…. Within Temptation
I have these this band a couple of times…. on the radio often announced as “Gothic”…. but uh…. no – I would not call it “Gothic”……
Fairytale Metal…??
That title does get a bit closer….. But fairytale; does not mean it is “children’s music”……..
They give amazing shows…… and because of that – they have gotten really big all over Europe….!!

Very nostalgic for me…. the first concert I went to…..
Spargo and the Nits….

Founded in 1975 – with a nice funky disco beat….
One of those bands which did split up – but are back together again…
This song was their biggest hit - #1 (1980) in Holland. According to the Dutch Wikipedia – this was also a hit in other countries….. –> but I could not find any proof on Google…

But hey – just a nice funky disco song….. and it brings back memories…

A Dutch golden oldie…. of an almost totally unsuccessful band…. Vitesse ….
They kept trying – but the real success never happened….
In the Dutch charts is the biggest hit a #4.

They (uh… well; you could say it is a one mans project – who had a LOT of musicians over the year; Herman van Boeyen – the drummer) started in 1975 with also Herman Brood as a member of the band. And all of a sudden I realize that I never did a “Monday Little Dutch Treat” with Herman Brood…. tssss.

Okay – back to Vitesse; this song Rosalyn got a #9 in the hit-charts in 1982…..

Monday Little Dutch Treat; Claw Boys Claw - Rosie

One of the dinasours of the Dutch music scene. Claw Boys Claw was founded in 1983 - starting with what you could call “garagepunk”…. Early 90s they tried to make their music “more accessible”. Which resulted in the only hit parade songe; Rosie !
No big success… but I am also not sure if that was the intention of this band. In 2000 the band stopped - but 2007 was the year of the new Claw Boys Claw….

Something totally “not famous”….
I have been playing music with the bass player of this band…. so logically enough I have been following them the whole time….
Their last cd is already a couple of years old…… “but they are making a new one”….. well - I can’t wait !!

Lots of emotions in this music…. as the band call it themselves “honest musicians who were never interested in making marketing a part of their musical concept. Only an instrument to express and share their feelings”

Have been listening to it tonight….. One of the first bands I ever saw live. And this song is also from the first cd I bought. Ooooh - I already had vinyl - but figured cds would never get big…..and where also way to expensive….
I never figured this would become a collection of more than 200 cds… hahaha

Well; real great band - great to watch live….

Just sit down - relax - and listen to this nice “Sunday afternoon music”….the Nits - Train (from their album “Hat”.
