I did know this was not an original of Nirvana…. and now listening carefully to the clip of Nirvana - I realize what “the guitar of Leadbelly” is referring to…..
Leadbelly (Lead Belly) recorded this song in 1944 - but it is a certain thing; he did not wrote this song…
The counter goes back to 1870… but there is a big change this song is even older….
The song has several names “In the Pines” - “Where did you sleep last night” - “Rolling Mill Blues” - “Black Girl”….
The grunge band “Nirvana” made a real nice version during their MTV Unplugged shows…..
